The Government of Rwanda joined other members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in its tenth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors held in Beijing from 24th to 26th June 2025.

The event served as a dynamic platform for AIIB to showcase its progress and engage with diverse stakeholders in critical discussions on financing “Infrastructure for Tomorrow.” The meeting brought together member states, development partners, business leaders, civil society organizations, and global experts from various fields to collaborate and exchange forward-looking ideas.

Rwanda’s delegation was led by Hon. Mutesi Linda Rusagara, State Minister in Charge of Resource Mobilization and Public Investment at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, alongside Rwanda’s envoy to China, Ambassador  James Kimonyo, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD), Ms. Kampeta Pitchette Sayinzoga.

On the sidelines of the event, the Minister participated in a special session of the Board of Governors, during which Ms. Zou Jiayi was elected as the next President of AIIB.

The Rwandan delegation also held several bilateral meetings with Chinese institutions, including China Africa Development Fund, China Development Bank, China International Development Cooperation Agency and Export–Import Bank of China to explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in promoting trade and investment between the two countries.
